Originally formed as a logging community in the late 1800s, Flagstaff sits at the base of the 12,000 foot, San Francisco Peaks. At an elevation of 7,000 feet above sea level, Flagstaff is one of the highest cities in America. Similar to most mountain communities, it boasts a classic four season climate. Flagstaff has the largest Ponderosa pine forest in the United States.
